Eminem
I have discovered a hidden love for rap.
Yes, me.
Not all rap, let me clarify. In fact, not most rap. This summer though, while studying, cleaning, working, exercising...I've discovered rap artist Eminem and I'm hooked. His lyrics are fascinating and real; dealing with issues political, domestic, social and emotional. I've discovered I really like listening to his songs (not all of them...) and it seems each time I do, I hear something new.
This particular song touches upon domestic violence and the emotional and psychological insanity so entwined within it. An interesting listen, for sure.
Here we go again, it's so insane
'Cause when it's going good, it's going great
I'm superman with the wind in his back
She's Lois Lane, but when it's bad, it's awful
I feel so ashamed, I snapped. "Who's that dude"
I don't even know his name
I laid hands on her, I'll never stoop so low again
I guess I don't my own strength
But you promised her, next time you'd show restraint
You don't get another chance
Life is no Nintendo game, but you lied again
Now you get to watch her leave out the window
Guess that's why they call it "window pane"
Don't you hear sincerity in my voice when I talk?
Told you this is my fault, look me in the eyeball
Next time I'm pissed, I'll aim my fist at the drywall
Next time? There won't be no next time
I apologize, even though I know it's lies.
Well, "Superman". What are you going to do about your problem? Your response will make or break you.

World Cup 2010
"The 2010 FIFA World Cup™ Final promises to be quite an occasion, with the Netherlands pitting their wits against reigning European champions Spain. Both sides have produced some good football during their campaigns and have been rewarded with the chance to add their nation's names to the select list of former winners: Uruguay, Italy, Germany, Brazil, England, Argentina and France."
Today is the final match! Spain vs. the Netherlands....Team Red vs. Team Oranje....our dear friends' country vs. our dear friends' country....
Who to root for?!
Some other dear friends are coming over today to squeeze into my grandparents' livingroom so we can cheer and groan and celebrate the outcome together. Our very own World Cup party. :) Should be very fun.
11:30, my friends. Let the game begin!

The City
I took my cousin and her husband to San Francisco yesterday as part of their honeymoon. They'd been married 6 months yesterday and neither of them had ever been to The City.
Bay Bridge. Union Square. Chinatown. The beach. Coit Tower. Cable Cars. Fisherman's Wharf. In-n-Out. Golden Gate Bridge. Lombard Street. We pretty much did everything.

Three students from Spain will be ariving in five days and will be living with us for six weeks. They're coming to learn English and they're coming to travel...with me. And so, in about a week and a half, I'll be in The City once again.
Can't wait. On so many levels.
